Keep your Desktop and Downloads under control.
Desk Sweeper is a native Mac menu-bar app that files everyday clutter by simple local rules: screenshots are renamed, installers are cleaned up, old downloads are archived, and Markdown notes are sorted.
No cloud. No account. No subscription. Nothing hidden in a database.
Download for macOS7-day free trial, no card. One key works on 7 Macs · includes every version 1 update · macOS 14+ · ~16 MB
The rules
Renamed to the date and time, filed into a Screenshots folder.
Sorted into a dated Notes library, named from their front-matter.
That .dmg you're done with — moved to the Trash once it's sat unopened.
Anything older than 30 days, tucked into a dated archive.
Every folder gets its own rules — Desktop, Downloads, or any folder you add.
The promise
Every action is a move — to a folder, or to the Trash. It's all journaled before it happens, and Undo last sweep restores everything to exactly where it was, any time. That's the whole point.
The approach
Some Mac apps let you build advanced folder-automation rules from scratch. Desk Sweeper takes a different approach: it focuses on the everyday mess most people actually have — screenshots, installers, old downloads, and loose notes — and handles it with safe, local defaults.
No rule-builder to learn. Sensible defaults are on from the first launch — tune them only if you want to. It lives quietly in your menu bar, weighs about 16 MB, and never nags: one gentle reminder on trial day six, and that's it.
Looking for a simpler Hazel alternative? Desk Sweeper focuses on everyday Desktop and Downloads cleanup — no rule system to build.
